Anat Dotan had grown up in Beer Sheva (The Capital city of the NEGEV). She Graduated from Colombia University in New York and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Among her many activities of service, Anat assisted children in Honduras and served as an emissary to the young Jewish community in Sydney Australia.
When Anat returned to Israel in 2009, after her studies and her volunteer work, she decided to settle in the Negev as she saw it her purpose to share her broad cultural wealth with the NEGEV people. As she used to say – “they have everything that is needed in order to succeed except for self esteem and taking pride in who they are”.
Anat immediately looked where she could volunteer and found an NGO in Sderot which assisted drop-out teenagers. She taught them English and became a back-bone to the staff as well.
When Anat passed away in a sudden and unexpected way, the kids she had been working with built “Anat's corner”, in the NGO facility, which they actually built with their own hands a deck with shade and planted mint and other herbs since she loved to drink hot water and mint.
